I watched the final round of Genesis Championship in Korea last night. Genesis is one of the Hyundai automobile brands. It was so much fun to watch a tournament cheering one of my favorite players, TaeHoon Kim and becoming a winner.
KPGA tour is so small and a lot less polular comparing to PGA America and even KLPGA in Korea.The winner of this biggest KPGA tournament gets only $ 260K which is a lot less than the winner payout of the smallest PGA tournament. Reminding Adam Scott, the winner of Genesis Invitational got $ 1.6 M. KPGA money leader in 2019 won 400K, while KLPGA money leader won 1 M. Golf professional payouts for hardworks in Korea seem so little. Just wishing KPGA’s popularity in Korea grow like KLPGA.
The winner of this tournament gets an invitation to play at a PGA tournament: Genesis Invitational in LA next year. I will be there, maybe as a volunteer.
