Driving Range – Finding Driver Swing
I’ve been practicing at home for months. It is very helpful to shape my swing, but hard to check my distance and direction. Finally, this week I went to driving range three times to work on my driver.
In a video about driver tip from Rory, Rory said he probably has two or three good driver shots he likes, if it is a good round. Recently, I didn’t like my driver shots at all. But today I had two good driver shots I felt I recovered my distance. Still, too much thinking when I hold my driver.
Most Inconvenient Change during Pandamic
Most noticeable change in golf after lockdown is that golf courses get extremely busy. Golf course is outdoor and people have more time to play. Esp. my home course Rancho Park is the most popular public golf courses in LA. It was originally designed to be a tournament course, so conditions and maintenance are decent comparing to other public courses in LA. Also, it is very affordable and cooler because it is westside near ocean.
The most inconvenient change during pandamic is getting a tee time. New tee times open at 6 am shape 8 day in advance. Now, I have to set the alarm at 5:57 am, logged in and press the tee time exactly at 6 am. If I am a couple of minute late, I can only see super-twilight tee times. Before the pandamic, it wasn’t that hard to get a tee time, so I didn’t worry about reservation. Oh…good old days~~~

Something missing in Driver swing
I’ve had a lot of troubles with my driver swing recently, but I couldn’t figure out the main reason. I’ve analyzed my swing and learned a lot. So, I know I have several problems with my swing. Still, there must be one big reason for shorter distance…
I finally went to driving range today getting out of my backyard. I felt I hit balls well with my driver. When I took a video, it looked something was missing. It is not only about the impact position.
Oh.. that may be a shoulder turn.
Endless problems.. When you try to fix one thing in golf swing, other unexpected problems come out again.
My New SIM 3 Wood – Miracle didn’t Happen
Most ordinary recreational golfers like me change clubs hoping for a miracle. I was so excited with my new SIM 3 wood delivered today and played golf with it right after. Once again, I realize miracle doesn’t happen with new clubs.
My old M4 3 wood was my favorite golf club. I was very confident with this 3 wood, esp recently I’ve been having hard time with my driver, but I could make a recovery shot with 3 wood. I felt l could hit a lot longer if I change my old M4 to new SIM max wood. A lot of shots with my new 3 wood today were slice shots.
Still, I made some good shots I was satisfied. I may need more skills to make this club friendly. I remember it took me some time until I was used to hit well with my old M4. Just need more practices.

Wow.. unbelievable way to win… Also, the second biggest news was that he picked up his ball on green without a marker.
A Little Improvement- Downswing and Impact
I’ve been practicing my swing at least one hour a day. It is not easy to get some motions without a coach. I usually take videos of all of my swings and analyze each swing to feel the right way to swing.
I’ve been having a hard time with my driver during golf rounds recently with changes. Once in a while, I made a great distance with my driver. I just need to keep practicing and be patient.

Easy Game- Dustin Johnson’s Play at Northern Trust
Dustin Johnson wins by 11 at Northern Trust. It was amazing to watch his game starting Friday when he scored 60. Earlier, I watched two rounds of Tiger, Rory and other top players. They were struggling to make pars. Dustin’s play was so simple. Tee shots on fairway, second shot on green and make one putt. Golf seems so easy!

Going Back to the Basic.
Question: Which One is Rarer among Top PGA Players – Two Eagles or Two Triple Bogeys in One Round
I was so excited to watch Tiger and Rory’s game today at Northern Trust. Actually, their games were surprisingly disappointing, but somehow entertaining to give some excuses about my poor game.
Rory made two triple and one of them was at Par 5. Tiger play seemed so week as well.
Due to their poor play, they were able to get the same tee time on Northern Trust Final game. Hope I can see some exciting changes for both tomorrow.
