I realized changing a club path may help to fix my downward head movement. I noticed my driver club shaft during backswing goes to backward instead of upward.

My 4th year volunteer at Genesis Invitational. 15 min drive to Riviera from my house. Can’t miss it!
The most significant difference in my golf between before and after pandamic is how to learn golf. Too much information and too many techniques in golf. Before pandamic, I only focused on what my golf instructor taught once a week. I hardly took my swing video or watched any golf lesson programs.
Now I have to find my swing by myself. I am so overwhelmed because I realized 1. I need to learn a lot about golf swing by myself, 2. I need to fix a lot of parts of my swing and 3. even changing a small part of swing is so hard and I barely know how to.
It is fun to learn about golf and my swing. I know these parts needed to change, but finding ‘how to’ is another challenge. My body, not my brain needs to know how to.
Today I watched golf lesson videos from a famous Korean youtube channel. The first guest instructor was SeiYoung Kim, LPGA KPMG winner this week and the other instructor was NaYeon Choi 2012 US Open Champion. That is why I think about knowledge and knowhow. SeiYoung told how to make powerful driver swing (wow 277 yards) from her own simple know-how, while NaYeon told what makes good driver swing with so much anatomy knowledge. NaYeon sounded so smart and she can be a professor of golf college, but I felt SeiYoung’s lesson was more helpful. Not because she taught us how to, but because she made me realize I need to find my own knowhow. In golf: Know-how > Knowlege.

I have a lot of free time staying home during pandamic. Instead of Netflix, I’ve watched ATP tour since US Open tennis. Today was the final round in Roland Garros. It was so fun to watch Nadal’s great performance dominating the game. I watched a lot of Djokovic’s past year play through Youtube, but his play in Roland Garros was different, esp today. Maybe that is because Nadal’s play was flawless. Most tennis players have injuries and physical discomfort , so Djokovic’s condition can’t be an excuse.

The most common fact I found between watching tennis and golf is time consuming. After watching 5 hour match between Thiem and Schwatzman, I realized I need to limit time to watch ATP tour. Golf broadcast for 5 hours shows a lot of players and their various performances, while a long tennis match between two players can last upto 6 hours. The surprising fact: an intensive tennis match for 5 hours is very exciting, while golf tournament for 5 hours can be monotonous like today’s KPMG women’s championship when you can easily predict the winner.
Adding some more excitements in life during staying home isn’t a bad idea.
I watched the final round of Genesis Championship in Korea last night. Genesis is one of the Hyundai automobile brands. It was so much fun to watch a tournament cheering one of my favorite players, TaeHoon Kim and becoming a winner.

KPGA tour is so small and a lot less polular comparing to PGA America and even KLPGA in Korea. The winner of this biggest KPGA tournament gets only $ 260K which is a lot less than the winner payout of the smallest PGA tournament. Reminding Adam Scott, the winner of Genesis Invitational got $ 1.6 M. KPGA money leader in 2019 won 400K, while KLPGA money leader won 1 M. Golf professional payouts for hardworks in Korea seem so little. Just wishing KPGA’s popularity in Korea grow like KLPGA.
The winner of this tournament gets an invitation to play at a PGA tournament: Genesis Invitational in LA next year. I will be there, maybe as a volunteer.
Just for my reference.

During a round on Wednesday, a golfer who had a same tee time several times with me pointed my head dropped a lot during takeaway. I know it so well and I’ve been trying to fix it for a long time. It’s been bothering me whenever I see my swing on videos.
There are many factors to make a good swing, so I somehow moved on to other parts of swing instead of trying to fix my head position and stuck there.
During the round, he kept asking me to change it. I focused my head, but he said I still did the same. What? I’ve been trying to fix it for years, but he seemed I could change it in 5 mins. It was very annoying, but I tried to be nice about it. But , he is right. I really want to fix it!
I know head moving is caused by my arm and shoulder movements during takeaway.

This is a perfect article from golf.com I need to study.
I’ve been a big fan of Jessica Korda since I started golf. There came another star player, Nelly Korda three years ago. I like their play because they are so competent and competitive. Now, here comes an outstanding young tennis player, Sebastian Korda. All family members including mom and dad are great players.
Today was the first time I watched Sebastian’s whole game. It was against Rafael Nadal in Roland Garros fourth round. Even though Sebstian’s world ranking was 213, he made up to last 16 players in the French Open and played against his idol, Rafael Nadal. Sebastian’s game can’t be compared with Rafael at this momont, but people can see he has a lot of strengths and potentials. Also, athletic genes.

Today Jessica Korda was ranked T 13 and Nelly Korda, ranked 5 at Shoprite LPGA Classic. Fun to watch them. 😁
My new driver was delivered yesterday. I’ve been searching if Sim Max driver is right for me for a while. Watching so many videos about clubs and reading all reviews, I felt like a nerd. Maybe worthy to try. I had seveal drivers, so I understand not all of them would be good for me. So, I got a used one, in case I want to trade-in it again. Same Degree, Same length and same Fujikura brand shaft as my PRGR driver.

Today I tried the new driver during a round. WOW~ Swing is so easy.
Direction: It was so easy to make a straight shot. My ball usually went right with my old drivers, so I thought I have fade driver swing. My balls mostly went left or straight today.
Distance: I checked driving distance on each hole. With a normal contact, a ball can easily goes to 180. The longest was 195 at 2nd hole and I reached to green side rough at par 4 ( ladies 5) 366 yard with two strokes.
Easy swing: wow. My swing was easy. I can easily drop driver’s head at impact without intentional efforts.
Now my goal is average 200 yard driving distance. It will take a long time or never, but why not trying?
